Surprisingly Complex, and FUNNY!

Wow, I wasn't expecting such an epic piece of work! This was really funny, and a bunch of fun surprises in the animation. I especially liked the Predator cameo, and the credit confessions of where all the unlicensed material came from.

One suggestion, the artist should consider doing some voices instead of word bubbles for Episode 2. I think it would make it even funnier.

Quikflash responds:

Thanks again!

Good Frame-by-Frame Work

The Flash was short, and no sound, but the frame-by-frame animation was very well done. Too bad it wasn't a complete story. Sound would really help, too. If this only took 13 minutes, do a longer animation with that frame-by-frame action and you'll have a real winner!

JESTERanimations responds:

im workin on it...

Sticks SO COOL, gotta' spell it like STIX!

This was an amazing work of art. I usually don't care for the stick figure genre, but Confused Henry #3 was an exception. It must be difficult to make stick figures be so emotive, since they have no facial expressions. I really liked the attention to detail in this production: The perspective of the rain falling towards the camera, the light reflecting off the goggles, the guy sliding down the glass window slowly, the bees dragging the dude back into the bush. The artist should be very proud of this piece.

It will be interesting to see what Simon will come up with next, now that he is sick of working with stick figures!

Skruggs responds:

The attention to detail was the death of confused henry I think

Future Director!

The directorial style in this Flash animation was excellent. Simulated camera movement and lighting were all very professional.

Still Life in Iowa

Using the Fisher-Price toys as characters is a good idea, although I feel that the movie could have used more camera changes. Close-up shots of characters when they speak would certainly make it seem more dynamic. The story and narration seemed a bit slow, although this may be intentional, to reflect the mood in Middle America.

While it is nice to have a non-violent, clean theme for a Flash project once in a while, I wouldn't discredit the proven format of those movies with blood and potty jokes. They are, by far, the most appealing genre on NG, and on the Internet in general.

chickenking responds:

thanks for the feedback. i am already planning more camera changes in the next one. it incorporates a more dialogic model and will lend itself to more cuts and two-shots. thanks for the insightful review.

Blam-tastic!

This was a very creative production! I was impressed by the artist's abiligy to convincingly anthropomorphize the Flash file icons, bringing them to life with both movement and emotions. I saw the main Flash file as a Christ-like figure, suffering for the sins of all mankind. His open gunshot wounds bled as if they were stigmata on the crucified Saviour. I also liked the play on the title, "The Dammed" ...

"Let he who has not sucked cast the first Blam!"

JoeandTom responds:

Very nice analogy!
And you caught things that I made hard to sort of find, such as "the damned" and christ dying for sins

Very nice! thank you wlevin :D

Informative

Thank you for the Flash tutorial. Here are some suggestions which may help for your next project:

1. Consider using a different font than the cursive text. It was difficult to read.

2. Also, consider using a different color scheme with better contrasts. The white text on light blue background was hard to read.

3. Try rescaling your screen shots to fit your Flash file without compression. Some of the embedded GIFs and JPEGs appeared garbled.

While many may find you Flash instruction helpful, it would probably be best received at FlashKit.com!

Fargate responds:

Ok Thanks for the advice. I had to scale some of them down past normal size to fit them so that's also why some of them may be garbled. I might just use a 550 x 440 next time.

I liked the ending

I think the clown really spiced up an otherwise bland story. A very artistic, touching piece. But sometimes we all need to be slapped in the face with a clown penis.

SpriteRemixClock responds:

I like the way you think.

Why Flock?

I thought it was a cute concept, and all those robots chanting, "Go Robot, it's your birthday" made me chuckle. But why inflate the size of the Flash file--and jeopardize the legality of the project by infringing on the copyright of another artist--with the unauthorized use of the Flock of Seagulls song? The producer seems like a creative guy, so he could do some more of his original music at the end, too!

V-O-R-T-E-X responds:

well, at first it sounded really good with the credits, but overall it didn't go together that well. i plan on changing it to something I made soon.

Thoroughly Impressed and Entertained

Marcus,

I can understand why this project took you a year to complete--it was well worth the time and commitment! The movie was almost relaxing to watch, with your nice jazz track and colorful characters. This must have been a rewarding experience for you. Looking forward to seeing more, and wishing you success in your goals!

Sincerely,

William

McRhyme responds:

Thank you! I think the coolest part of it all is to read all the reviews from all over the world, take you as an exemple, you're from NY. That's cool. I'm from Sweden you've seen my movie and thought it was worth reviewing! Thanks
